M.S. CCC-SLP
Hi, I'm Val! I am a graduate of Texas Tech University, where I earned my Masters Degree in Communication Disorders in the 90s!
Within my 27+ years in the field, I have worked with both children and adults in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practice, long term care, home health and telepractice. During this time I developed a passion for (and specialization in treating) medically complex children, pediatric feeding/swallowing, Apraxia of Speech and post-stroke rehabilitation. I have additional training in the evaluation and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders, as well as the CAN-EAT, Mealtime Miseries and Food Chaining methods for addressing feeding issues in children, and in the DTTC and REST methods for addressing Apraxia of Speech.
My therapy style is relaxed, infused with humor, and focused on the whole person/family with education and treatment to empower clients and caregivers to advocate for and strive toward independent communication in all environments.
When not working, I can be found out and about at area lakes camping with my husband and wonderful dogs, traveling, or at home catching up on gardening, crafting, and soaking up all the new movies.
